Getting started
You probably already have a site and you probably already have visitor statistics. If you have a very big site this strategy is even better as you have more data to use and more possibilities. What you should start with is going through your analytics data and find the 10 most profitable keywords, if you have your goal settings correct this should be fairly simple. If you don't sell anything or in any other way make money on your site, select the 10 keywords that send you most traffic.
Pick the right ones
All the keywords you have selected now are potential candidates for the next step. What we need to do is finding 2-3 of them that can be improved easily. If the number one keyword when it comes to revenue is big on search demand and competition, we should skip it for today. If it's a keyword where you have top position it's also uninteresting. What we are looking for is a spot where a keyword is ranked somewhere in the middle of the search result page, competition is low and the revenue is good. So of these 10 you selected:
- Sort out all where you are number 1.
- Sort out all that you have actually put in effort to get them where they are.
- Sort out all where the sites ranking above you are big trusted sites.
If this leaves you without keywords you have to go back a step and select the next 10 on the list and do this again. Hopefully you will have at least 2 keywords to work with.
Give them a push
Now you have at least 2 keywords where you already know that it will be fairly easy to get som quick results that will be valuable. The rest is easy, blog about them or publish an article to an article directory. Do a link exchange or ask you best friend to blog about them. Depending on what scale you are doing your SEO on you will have to do different things of course. If it's gambling or SEO you are trying to get traffic from a blog post is nowhere near sufficient but on the other hand you probably have bigger resources. The strategy is still valid, your work will give the best results possible per hour/link/dollar.
