Search Engine Optimization and a Complete Article Marketing Strategy

One of the great benefits of a quality article marketing strategy is that it enhances your off page SEO efforts as well as drives traffic, provides value to the community and a host of other things.

You can read all about the other benefits of article marketing using the links found at the end of this article but right now we are going to focus on how a solid article marketing strategy can drive your off page SEO efforts. Article marketing is essentially timeless. Unlike ad campaigns that come and go and social bookmarks that hit page one and fade over time, quality articles can sit forever a top the search engine listings for any particular keyword.

Now granted, your article may be on page one today, page four tomorrow and back to page two next week but a quality article written for a specific, opportunistic keyword can have lasting benefits that are well beyond most other tactics used in internet marketing. Notice that I pointed out "opportunistic keyword" above. You should not expect to write an article geared towards "dogs" or "tennis" and expect to find yourself receiving a top ranking in Google (or any other search engine for that matter).

You need to be methodical and target moderate traffic key words that have little competition. Use targeted anchor text to link from your article to a specific niche URL that you built as a squeeze page, a source of even more targeted content or that leads to a niche sales page.

Utilizing several articles in this manner will help the "target" site's SEO efforts and will help you receive more targeted traffic in the long run. You can write different articles targeted to different keywords that link to different pages of your targeted site.

Just remember that the traffic is only going to develop if you are providing quality content and earning the trust of the reader. Quality content will also help you establish yourself as an expert in your niche and can help you build a substantial following of potential customers.

Writing a few quality articles does not guarantee more traffic or better search engine rankings. Sometimes you need to use a little trial and error adjusting your keywords until you land on some that really click.

It does not take a lot of time and the long term return for a few hours invested up front can be well worth the effort. And remember, linking together several articles on several different websites can only compound the overall effect and help boost the rankings of all sites involved.
